Mark Baker has always been a fan of music. He started playing piano by
the age of 6 and continued onward to learn the trumpet in high school.
By the time he was in university, he had taken up bass guitar and
started to play in various bands. Mark was a dedicated B-boy who
rocked out to Public Enemy, Boogie Down Productions, Tribe Called
Quest,.......What do you do when you're black and grow up in
Pickering?
One May evening in 1999 all of that changed. A friend of his took him
to System Sound Bar and his eyes and ears were instantly opened. The
ideology of the hip-hop DJ that Mark was familiar with was shattered
and it wasn't long until Mark felt that burning desire to try his hand
at yet another musical craft. Yup...the art of the DJ.
After watching and partying to the likes of DJ Dan, Steve Lawler, Carl
Cox, Danny Howells, Chus and Ceballos, Roger Sanchez, Sander
Kleinenberg, and Satoshi Tomiie just to name a few, Mark met DJ Mike
Ryan on the party trail in Toronto.
With the encouragement of the 'Good Times Gang' (our party friends)
and DJ Mike Ryan as his mentor, Mark started to play out at parties
and release mixes. So feel free to grit your teeth and shake what your
mamma gave ya.
Dj Mark Baker also goes by the monikers of U2BROTHR and Solacevip
DJ Dan, Steve Lawler, Carl Cox, Danny Howells, Chus and Ceballos, Roger Sanchez, Sander Kleinenberg, and Satoshi Tomiie
